An Oct. 30th, 1955 letter from Shoghi Effendi reminds us of his instruction for the Bahá’í Temple in Haifa (written on behalf of the first of our Guardians to the N.S.A. of Australia):
"There is no reason why it should look like the Chicago Temple; on the other hand, he feels these ultra-modern, often bizarre structures are not at all in keeping with the dignity of our Faith. The type of dome on such structures as Mason Remey’s Temple for Haifa, the Shrine of the Báb and St. Peter’s in Rome he considers beautiful in proportion
and suitable. The style is naturally a question each architect would evolve for himself. What interests the Guardian is the symmetry of the ensemble and dignity."
We know that Shoghi Effendi instructed that the architectural plan for the Bahá’í Temple on Mt. Carmel, designed by Charles Mason Remey, was to be kept safe where the first Guardian placed it. We have seen that the sans-Guardian administration leaves Mason
Remey's photo out of their yearbook, The Bahá’í World, when providing profiles of Hands of the Cause of God.
The Bahá’í world will become aware of the first Guardian's instruction concerning the plan for the Bahá’í Temple on Mt. Carmel.
